It's time to BioBlitz! Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, at the Barataria Preserve of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, the National Park Service and National Geographic will team up for BioBlitz 2013.

Remember Nikki Leali, the adorable seven year old local librarian we featured back in April to promote her book swap/book donation party? Nikki joined millions of children worldwide the weekend of April 27, to be a part of Global Youth Service Day, and make a difference in her New Orleans community.

NOMA's Studio KIDS! art classes encourage creativity and imagination in students ages 5-12. This week's class is called "Printing Across Cultures" and is inspired by the exhibition: Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World's Fairs, 1851-1939. Kids will see how the fairs showcased works from many cultures, sketch their favorite designs in the galleries, then turn sketches into relief prints in the classroom.

City Park proudly introduces its newest family friendly attraction - City Putt, a miniature golf complex with two 100% ADA accessible 18-hole courses. On May 24, come early for opening day festivities, including a ceremonial ribbon cutting prior to the gates opening. The first 150 patrons through City Putt's gates on opening day will have the chance to win a special prize if they draw a golden golf ball out of the City Putt golf ball bucket. Opa! Greek Festival New Orleans turns 40 this year. All of your favorite foods, drinks, events, and entertainments are back, along with some special surprises. Be on the lookout for veteran festival workers wearing a special button with red ribbons; they were here at the first Greek Festival New Orleans (and probably worked that one, too!). The Athenian Playground is perfect for the kids with facepainting, rock climbing, crafts, inflatables and my family's favorite - canoe rentals! Don't miss the wonderful Greek dancers - they are fun to watch. And be sure to leave with a box (or two or three) of Greek pastries!

Use your imagination to express yourself creatively while you make a unique puppet using regular household objects. Use our stage and puppet theater to perform a puppet show! Mommy and Me Mornings!
at Palm Tree Playground
Palm Tree Playground Mommy and Me group meets every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
This group is for moms with children five-years-old and younger. As the group grows, we will segment it into different ages, but for now all moms and kids are welcome to participate on the same morning. Our group will meet in the cafe area and will be treated to coffee while discussing all of the perks and challenges of motherhood.
We will host local speakers to discuss a wide range of topics and give mini-classes including: baby ...

Story Time at Magic Box Toys
Weekly story time every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
Who doesn't like to listen to a good story?
Starting February 27th, Magic Box Toys will host a weekly story time every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Story time is aimed at the 18 month - 3 year old crowd but all are welcome! It will last until 10:30 or longer depending on the kid's attention spans. Since this is a brand new event at the store, they'll be playing it by ear initially to see what works best.
Everyone at Magic Box Toys loves books ...
